Joseph is such a happy little guy. He
almost always has a smile on his face, which occasionally turns to a
mischievous grin when he is doing something that he shouldn't.
Joseph loves to run. He especially looks for every
possible opportunity to escape through an open door or away from mommy to freedom.
Joseph's
favorite toys are his cars and his figurine animals. He can play with
them for hours upon hours. He loves to line them up repeatedly. He also
loves looking at and listening to books. You can often find him
sitting on our bean bag with a pile of books at his side and one in his
hands.
Joseph is
a smart little tike. He can learn songs and memorize movie lines faster
than his parents. It's hilarious when he incorporates a movie lines into
a conversation. For example, one summer evening we were eating
dinner, and Joseph kept getting up to play. I told him, "Joseph,
sit down and eat your food. You may not get up until you are
finished eating." He replied, "You know, you treat me like a pup!"
(line from Fox and the Hound)
He's also
very interested in the alphabet and numbers. He knows all of the
letters and most of the letter sounds. He loves counting and
pointing out numbers and letters wherever he goes. In September,
he started attending a co-op preschool that Rachelle and her friends
organized. This should be a great opportunity for him to review
his numbers, letters, shapes and colors and to work on his drawing,
writing and pre-reading skills.
He was
recently singing the ABC's to the tune of "Joshua Fit the Battle of
Jericho." Rachelle asked him if he could do it backwards. Joseph stopped
for a minute, said "Okay," and started singing it backwards to the
Jericho tune without missing a beat or a letter. Thanks to 3-year-old
Joseph, the whole family can now sing the ABC's backwards. To hear
Joseph in one of his early attempts at the song (to the normal tune),
